Manchester United supporters continued to be disappointed by the antics of their side as the Red Devils failed to attain victory yet again, this time against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The Monday fixture saw the Gunners sneak a 1-1 draw as both sides continued to display the trend of mediocrity that has been increasingly associated with them as of late.

For United, the standout issue continued to be a flaw in maintaining apt squad dynamics as the talent at Ole Gunnar Solslkjaer’s disposal weren’t used to the best of their ability and preference.

Further, the Red Devils also struggled to position their players aptly, with Paul Pogba, in particular, being deployed where he may not be most effective.

This sentiment was echoed by a former Manchester United player.

Robin Van Persie feels Pogba ought to play in a more advanced role, with MEN quoting him to have stated: “For him, the coach, for us, for everyone, it’s just important to choose a position. Choose where you think, and the coach thinks, he plays the best football for himself and for the team. I would play him not as a defensive midfielder, and not as a number 10 but in between – number eight position.”

The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker goes on to add: “So, he still has his freedom, he’s not judged then on 20-plus goals a season, if he scores 10-plus goals, makes assists, everyone will look differently at him then, but it needs to be clear for everyone.”

Most of United’s passionate moments in the Arsenal game came when Pogba was the chief creator.  However, the deeper role that Solskjaer is content with assigning him doesn’t always facilitate the same.

Moreover, both Jose Mourinho and the Norwegian gaffer himself have seen in the past as to how drastically the attacking dynamics alter when the Frenchman is at no.10.
