Daniel James Is ‘The Best Defensive Winger’ In The World
Daniel James has been a revelation since his big move to Manchester United from Swansea City.
However, neutral fans did not really expect the Welshman to make such a quick impact as a signing from the Championship is always received with underwhelming vibes. Despite this, James has proven himself in the Premier League at a young age.
Netting 3 goals and setting up as many in all competitions, the winger has shown his worth and impressed United fans and neutral fans alike. Moreover, the youngster’s willingness and ability to contribute to his sides of defensive phases have been appreciated, especially by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
When quizzed if he was surprised by the 22-year-old’s instant impact for his side, the United boss responded (via the Mirror): “Not really because when you sit down and speak to the boy you can see an ambitious, driven boy who knows what he wants.

“He is very analytical and is critical of himself, so he is the right type. The attributes are what you see first. His speed, his one-against-one skills.”
The praises didn’t stop there as Solskjaer went on to name the Welsh international as the best at what he does.
“He is probably the best defensive winger in the world with his honesty, commitment and the way he does his recovery runs and doing his back tackles,” the Norwegian continued.
“It is unbelievable, but that is also base for his attacking football because it gives him the space to run into, so I am not that surprised, though very pleased, of course.
“He is only going to improve by the coaching and the exposure he gets at Old Trafford because when you are not fazed by (being) a Manchester United player then the limit must be sky-high,” he added.

The Red Devils were in search for a quality winger who can contribute defensively for years. Ivan Perisic, who is another forward who can do his defensive duties well was only marginally missed out by Jose Mourinho.
Nevertheless, the former Swansea man has offered them just that without any big lapses in his offensive contribution. When you are a young player who just earned a move to a gigantic club such as the Premier League record champions, becoming a starter right off the bat is nothing short of an amazing deed.
It is safe to say that the United man has surely justified his pricetag. And if they managed to get their form back together, the young forward could prove to be an amazing asset they’ve managed to acquire at a bargain of a price.
