Gareth Southgate Emerges As The Latest Contender For The Man Utd Job

Manchester United could turn to England boss Gareth Southgate should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer receive the axe, as per the Sun.

The Norwegian has been under fire due to his side’s recent performances.

With no wins in the last 3 games, it seems as if United are struggling to remember how to and how it feels to win. The Red Devils have managed just 18 points after having played a whopping 14 Premier League matches this season as they sit 10th, a point below rivals Arsenal.

If the Sun were to be believed, Solskjaer’s job would be under serious threat if he fails to fetch a result against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, which seems unlikely as former United manager Jose Mourinho seems to have brought Spurs back from the ashes.

The former Cardiff City boss insists he has the full backing at Old Trafford, but being backed when the results are so poor must surely worry the fans.

On the other hand, the former Red Devil may just be covering up the pressure he is under. It was reported that the Mancunian giants could even opt to go for Southgate once the managerial spot is clear.

However, the higher-ups in Manchester face a big hurdle in hiring the Englishman as they once blocked his way into management long ago.
