Man United To Release Club Captain Ashley Young At End Of The Season

One of Manchester United’s biggest positives so far this season has been the vigor, passion, and sheer brilliance with which their youngsters have operated.
Tested academy graduates like Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford have been putting in their best seasons yet while fresh blood in the form of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams have set the emotions of Old Trafford soaring, painting a bright picture of the side’s future.
However, this has been at the backdrop of the more senior figures at the club. The repeated instances of record-breaking average team ages have seen the few veterans still at the club being resigned to the back seat.
Now, United could be all set to bid farewell to one of them.
As per the Evening Standard, Manchester United may let go of Ashley Young at the end of this season. The 34-year-old English is closing on his contract expiry in the summer and talks are yet to have been initiated by any of the interested parties.
The source further adds that Young himself is aware of the limited first-team opportunities at hand, especially since Luke Shaw and the upcoming Brandon Williams have secured his preferred spot at the left-wing, and is fully expecting to be released.

Against AZ in the Europa League, Young netted what was arguably one of the finest goals by a United player in recent memory and it could very well be his last as a Red Devil.
