The Striker Man United Could Sign After Missing Out On Erling Haaland
Manchester United’s transfer ambitions remain to be known fully as the winter window draws closer.
The recent upset in the Erling Braut Haaland saga has ensured that the Red Devils are robbed of their prime target going into January. The main agenda that appears to be governing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s thought process is to sure up their key areas.
The Haaland pursuit obviously stemmed from a desire to have a back-up striker as earlier on in the season, United faced a dreadful goal drought due to injuries and poor form.
Since then, however, Marcus Rashford has been having the finest goal tally of his career, Mason Greenwood does not look like an academy graduate enjoying his first full senior season, and fresh from recovery, Anthony Martial has begun scoring yet again.
Thus, the desire for a back-up striker doesn’t appear to be an earnest one at this point in time.
However, the MEN maintain that United will still look for such a transfer in January. The report highlights Moussa Dembele will be the next name on United’s list.
The Lyon striker is allegedly the club’s third-choice option as the past week saw Haaland and Mario Mandzukic switch to other clubs.
At 23 years of age, Dembele is certainly an attractive forward and United have been touted to sign him for a while now. It is the manner in which Lyon responds to the wide variety of interest in the Frenchman that is bound to have a massive impact on the player’s near future.
At the same time, the report maintains that there is a strong possibility that United can go the whole January window bereft of a new signing. In a way, this may not be that big of a disappointment as Solskjaer’s outfit appear to be finally finding their mojo with the youngsters performing well and injuries no longer a squad-paralyzing issue.
