Anthony Martial Shows Solskjaer Was Right To Sell Romelu Lukaku

The goals are back for Manchester United and it is certainly a joyous affair. The Red Devils were a force to be reckoned with during their 3-0 win over Watford when Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood all found themselves on the scoresheet.

This takes their goals scored in the Premier League this season to 41, which is still the lowest number amongst the top-six teams, indicating that a lot of work is yet to be done. However, in terms of individual goals scored across their frontline, the numbers are immensely promising.

Marcus Rashford was in an electric form before his injury, notching 19 goals across all competitions, while Mason Greenwood’s latest thump has taken his tally to a promising 11.

However, it is Anthony Martial’s number that is impressive, particularly in comparison with another not so impressive one.

The Frenchman has now netted 15 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions this season. This tally is incredible given that Romelu Lukaku took 45 appearances last campaign to muster the same number of goals.

Much criticism was hurled at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for letting go of the Belgian, particularly since United were often toothless in front of goal here and there this season.

Initially, Marcus Rashford struggled to be regular with his goals and up until recently, Martial was in a drought spell of his own.

However, with the wonder-goal against Watford, Martial has now netted thrice in a single week. Solskjaer had earlier commented that Martial could attain the 20-goal tally by the end of this season and a run like this makes that prediction look all the more likely.

In fact, if Mason Greenwood can keep up his flair for clinical shots and Marcus Rashford can recover in time, it is not too hard to imagine three simultaneous 20-goal tallies at United.
