Twitter Reacts To Wayne Rooney’s Performance vs Manchester United
Thursday saw an intriguing exchange when Manchester United took on Derby County in the FA Cup. The game ended 3-0 in favor of the Red Devils via a brace from Odion Ighalo and a goal from Luke Shaw.
However, in the build-up to the game as well as during the encounter, the big talking point was regarding Derby’s newest high-profile arrival- Wayne Rooney.
The Englishman, who holds goal-scoring records for both the English national side and Manchester United, did a brilliant job in showing his former side that he still held the spark.
Twitter reacted to the same and there was certainly a fond nostalgia to be observed.
34-year-old Wayne Rooney bullied 27-year-old Jesse Lingard.
Simply brushes him aside. Levels summed up in one moment.

Nah Rooney's passing today was something else. Guy is 34 pinging balls around the pitch and nearly scored on two occasions from a FK. Class is permanent. Forever my childhood hero.

Wayne Rooney's individual and team IQ. has always been high however it was underrated due to his physicality. He is clearly not at the same level physically anymore but his IQ can still be seen which is great.

Wazza didn’t manage to make a difference in his team’s defeat, however. In fact, the symbolic goal that almost everyone was expecting him to score nearly arrived in added time when he was poised above a promising free-kick.
However, Rooney’s attempt was deftly and rather cruelly stopped by a resilient Sergio Romero.

The away fans did make the club legend feel at home, however, chanting his name and praises sporadically throughout the game.
The striker of their old days was not in attendance however, with the 34-year-old now assigned a playmaker’s role from much deeper on the pitch. He is still significantly impactful nonetheless.
The ousting will certainly be a disappointment for Rooney, although he still has a massive role left to play in trying to lead his side to the play-offs of the Championship in a bid for Premier League football next campaign.
