Greenwood Is The First Ever Man Utd Teenager To Score 5 Goals In Single European Campaign
It felt weird to witness a game featuring no crowd, resulting in an unusual eerieness, which however was unavoidable given the current coronavirus outbreak and the Austrian government’s rigid decision of limiting any sort of public gatherings due to the same.
In a match with no fans to provide the adrenaline rush to the players, Manchester United performed considerably well as they commanded the first leg of the Round of 16 Europa League tie in an overwhelming fashion, ending the game with a scoreline of 5-0.
Although the fixture featured multiple goals from five different Mancunian stars, it wouldn’t be far fetched to claim Mason Greenwood’s goal has gathered some extra recognition for breaking a record.

Following a pacy attack from a cleared away ball after the 90-minute mark, the teenager displayed great run on and off the ball to finalise with a neat finish which extended his side’s lead to four goals.
And with that sweet addition to the youngster’s goal tally, the young forward has become the highest goal-scoring teenager ever in a single European campaign for Manchester United, whilst not including qualifiers.

Twelve goals for Mason Greenwood now. Not many people believed OGS in the summer when he said MG would get goals this season.

Mason Greenwood is a generational talent. That has to be a consideration for Solskjaer as he looks to bring in another striker in the summer. He cannot block the teenager’s path or development #mufc

His achievement, therefore, has attracted numerous reactions from the supporters with a few of them even claiming that any addition in the striker position by Solskjaer in the next transfer window would obstruct the starlet’s advancement.
The 18-year-old has already registered 12 goals in all competitions for United this season and is already on the way of transitioning into a solid fan-favourite.
Accordingly, Solskjaer’s decision to experiment with young legs has till date come off well and it’s about time the prolific gaffer consider providing more game-time to the young asset, firstly for his growth, and secondly due to the enormous attacking potential the Englishman possess.
