Gonzalo Higuain has the chance to become the highest paid football player of all time, according to the reliable Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

Gonzalo Higuain managed to have a solid 2015-16 Serie A campaign the previous term. The Argentine striker scored 36 league goals last season, winning the Serie A Golden Boot in the process, and played a major part in helping his side finish second – as runners-up to Italian Champions Juventus.

His terrific performances in front of goal have resulted in the 28-year-old being linked with big-money moves to several European Giants. However, the one club that he is being largely linked with lately, is Arsenal.

The Premier League giants have been looking to acquire Higuain’s services for quite a while, in order to finally end their search for a world-class striker. But, according to a source close to Napoli, if they do intend to complete the signing of the Argentine international, they will have to break the world transfer record, and pay the Italian club a hefty sum of €94 million.

Barcelona Announce Transfer Of France Star

Speaking to BBC sport, the aforementioned source revealed: “There are no direct offers. Only by meeting the release clause of 94,376,000 euros will the player leave Napoli. Otherwise Higuain will stay for the remaining two years of his deal.”

If the Gunners do decide to meet the release clause in Higuain’s contract, the former Real Madrid man will surpass the current Real Madrid man Gareth Bale, and claim the title of the most expensive transfer in football history.

And amidst speculation of Higuain becoming the most expensive transfer of all time, the forward could also become the highest paid footballer of all time!

As per Tancredi Palmeri, Higuain is being offered a humongous yearly wage package worth €50 million by a club from the Chinese Super League.

If accepted, Higuain will surpass yet another former Real Madrid star, David Beckham – who earned €30 million a year during his time at LA Galaxy – as the highest paid football player ever.

And just to break that enormous wage package down, Higuain has a chance to earn €50m a year, €4.1m per month, €650k per week, €92k per day, €3.8k per hour and a mind-boggling €63 per minute!
