Bruno Fernandes: ‘Football Is About Winning, It’s Not About Playing’
Enough cannot be said about Bruno Fernandes. Ever since his arrival at Manchester United, the Portuguese midfielder has had a tremendous impact, aiding the club’s quick rise to positive form in the days prior to the lockdown.
Statistically, the midfielder had been prolific and in terms of mentality, his attitude has been infectious.
Most of the roster has positive words for the former Sporting star and now fans are itching to see him back in action again, even questioning why the club faltered and failed to acquire him in the summer transfer window itself.
Fernandes is of a similar strain of thought and his comments in this regard are quite telling.
Replying to a fan question on playing alongside Paul Pogba once football resumes, Fernandes states: “Football is about winning; it’s not about playing.”
Quite an empathic statement and one that captures the winning mindset that he carries.
Fernandes had also spoken strongly about the kind of team the Frenchman could expect upon his return to the Mancunian outfit.

In the same session, the 24-year-old adds about the pieces of silverware that the club is targeting: “Two targets, no! Four. I want four, because we have league, Champions League, Carabao and FA Cup. I want to win everything. I’m hungry to win everything. I told this before in some interviews. I came to Manchester to win, to win titles, league, Champions League, everything.”
There’s no putting it in another way, the Red Devils have added pure passion to their roster.
This campaign’s potential for silverware does look grim due to the uncertainty throated by the pandemic. Regardless, it is crucial for Fernandes to combine his form, mentality, and apparent consistency on the pitch whenever regular football resumes and to put these ambitions and strong words into raw action and massive results.
