A very tired Manchester United progressed to the semi-finals with a 2-1 win.

The FA Cup certainly is a terse affair as apart from the silverware and glory of the Cup, there is no real financial incentive for top sides to battle it out.

As such, when United made the cross-country trip to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City, they would have been hoping for a quick game and then refocus their attention to the Premier League where they are fighting for a top-four finish.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to have that in mind as he made eight changes to the starting lineup that battered Sheffield United in their prior league meeting.

Despite that, United had to play over 120 minutes of football as a resilient Norwich side extended the game to extra time by virtue of Todd Cantwell’s strike canceling out Odion Ighalo’s opener. Harry Maguire did settle things late into the game but by then there were several tired Red Devils on the field.

Despite having made six substitutions as per the new norms, the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire had to remain on the pitch as active participants throughout the game.

In this regard, a clip showing Fernandes’ defensive workrate is even more incredible.

While many fans commented that Fernandes didn’t have the best of games on Sunday and was visibly gassed out towards the end, performances like the above one show his brilliance regardless.

The Portuguese midfielder has been ace in his showings since January and now fans will be eager to see what more he has to offer until the end of the season.
