Solskjaer Wants Man Utd To Complete Sancho Transfer As Soon As Possible

Ole Gunnar Solskjær wants Jadon Sancho’s transfer to Man Utd to be done as soon as possible.

Jadon Sancho was upon the Red Devils’ transfer radar much before the COVID-19 pandemic had wreaked its biggest impact. As a result of the financial difficulties, the deal is predictably stuck in limbo with Borussia Dortmund and United unable to agree on a common transfer fee.

This is despite claims that personal terms have already been agreed between the player and the Premier League outfit.

As per ESPN, Ole Gunnar Solskjær is eager that the Sancho saga is done and dusted by the club as quickly as possible. In particular, the Norwegian gaffer wishes his club to “accelerate” the process of bringing the player to Old Trafford rather than play the waiting game.

It is understood that United wishes to wait and see how long they can protract the move and bring down Dortmund’s enormous asking price, especially in lieu of other interested parties for the starlet’s signature.

The report adds that the United boss does not want a repeat of last summer’s move for Harry Maguire where an attempt by the club to reduce the transfer fee to nearly half the asking price caused the defender to not arrive at his new club less than a week before the Premier League campaign began.

A similar sight was to be seen with regard to Bruno Fernandes’ winter acquisition, that particular deal being delayed from the summer itself. In both cases, an enormous sum had to be paid regardless.

As a result, valuable training time with the new pivotal signings was lost. Given the pandemic and the even smaller gap-time between the seasons, this is more serious a case this time around as Sancho’s late arrival could further reduce his adjusting period.

Incidentally, it will be intriguing to see how Dortmund’s alleged August 10 deadline plays into all of this.
