Manchester United are now just one step away from securing the signing of Alex Telles, according to Correio da Manha.

The Red Devils were in the market for a left-back this summer and soon after a deal for Sergio Reguilón failed to materialise, their attention quickly shifted to the Porto star.

United refused to be bullied by Real Madrid’s terms and opted to find a player elsewhere whilst Tottenham Hotspur swooped in as a new suitor for the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, the Old Trafford outfit shifted their focus on one of their older targets. Talks between Telles and the English side are now said to be very positive. According to reports, the Brazilian has already agreed a five-year contract worth around £70,000-a-week with Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side.

However, talks with Porto have not progressed well as they are demanding a fee the Premier League side are not comfortable with. The Portuguese outfit will lose around 25% from the sale due to a sell-on clause and agent fees, and are thus looking for a sum of around €27 million.

Nevertheless, Solskjær and his team are keen on negotiating a lower fee. Though the Liga NOS side are not too eager to engage in such talks.

On the other hand, with Reguilón joining Spurs, Ben Chilwell signing for Chelsea, and Timothy Castagne headed to Leicester City, the Premier League now has a roaster of exciting left-backs to offer.

Man City seem to be going ahead with Benjamin Mendy as their starter whilst Liverpool and Arsenal boast Scotland’s finest fullbacks in Andrew Robertson and Kieran Tierney respectively.

The department of good full-backs currently lacks numbers in the footballing world now and it’s rather exciting to see one league boast so many talents.
