Barcelona Officials Arrive In England To Complete Stunning Transfer
Barcelona have yet again made a move for Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho, reports Spanish newspaper Sport.
Coutinho has been a long-term target for the La Liga giants, who have been eyeing the Brazilian for the past couple of months. In fact, as per the latest reports from Spain, Barcelona officials have arrived in England to initiate a new bid for Coutinho, after their previous offer worth €80m for the 25-year-old was rejected by the Reds.
Liverpool are said to be holding out for as much as €100m for the Brazil international, who scored 14 goals and laid 7 assists across all competitions last season.
Since switching from Inter Milan back in 2013, the talented midfielder has been an appreciated player at Anfield, and is rated highly among Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Consequently, Coutinho is a wanted target among the elite of Europe. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have not ignored his displays on the pitch, and have kept tabs on him for quite a while.
However, the Reds’ boss is adamant on keeping the playmaker, labeling him as a ‘key player’ for his side, and insisting that he will not be sold at any price.
Speaking about his talisman, Klopp revealed: “I know that he feels completely more than fine and comfortable. He loves the club and the city. He’s a key player for us. He feels more than fine in Liverpool.”
Nevertheless, the Catalans have continued with their efforts to prise the midfielder from Merseyside, as Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde sees him as a potential replacement for Andres Iniesta, who has just 1 year left on his current contract.
Coutinho is tied down to a deal with the English giants that lasts until 2022, making it a tough fight for the Spanish giants to lure Liverpool’s Player Of The Season to Camp Nou.
