Kovacic is reportedly in search of regular first-team action, as the Croatian has been in and out of the Madrid squad since signing for the Spanish giants back in 2015. The youngster made just 27 appearances in La Liga for the Galacticos last season, and bagged a Champions League goal on the run.
The Croatian international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Spanish capital since the end of last season, especially with a switch to Tottenham, as he appears to be a high priority target for the North London club.
With the amount received from Manchester City for Kyle Walker, Spurs can hope to lure the 23-year-old, who is rated at £22 million, to their side with a lustrous wage packet and a promise of regular football.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on investing the money to strengthen his squad, as a tight campaign approaches. However, he has been quiet in the transfer market so far despite the first kick-off of the 2017/18 season approaching rapidly, and will be hoping to speed up his business before that.
The Argentine manager is also eyeing Dinamo Zagreb defender Filip Benkovic, who is rated at £13.5 million. The 20-year-old, though inexperienced, is considered one of the best young talents in Croatia, and could also be a potential arrival at the Lane this summer along with Kovacic.
