Alvaro Morata has extended his contract with Juventus until 2020, ending speculation about him moving back to Real Madrid.

The 23-year old has scored 18 goals in 65 appearances since joining Juventus last summer, including one in each leg of last season’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

Madrid-born Morata moved to the Serie A champions from his childhood club Real Madrid back in July 2014, for €20 million.

He has found goals hard to come by this campaign, scoring just three times in 19 appearances.

However, the Serie A side announced on Thursday that he has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club for another 12 months.

“Alvaro Morata has extended his relationship with Juventus,” said a statement from Juve.

“The Spanish striker, whose previous agreement expired in 2019, has signed a new contract which expires on June 30, 2020.”
