Memphis Depay Allegedly Taunted Robin Van Persie Over Fenerbahce Transfer
Newly signed Manchester United winger Memphis Depay taunted Robin van Persie over his move to Fenerbahce during a training ground argument, according to reports.
Robin van Persie was sold to Fenerbahce last summer in a move that was met with surprise across the footballing world.
And now, latest reports from Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur suggest that Memphis taunted Van Persie over the Fenerbahce move, before Holland’s Euro 2016 qualifier in Kazakhstan.
According to reports, the pair got into an argument after Depay didn’t pass the ball to Van Persie during a training game.
During the training match, Van Persie raced through on goal, but Memphis opted for a different pass, enraging the Fenerbahce striker, who shouted “Do you think you’re a big boy?” to which the 21-year-old replied “Do big boys play for Fenerbahce?”
It is suspected that the argument between both Depay and Van Persie led to Van Persie being dropped from the Netherlands squad by manager Danny Blind.
