United Legend: Louis Van Gaal Made A Big Mistake In The Summer With This Player

Louis van Gaal doesn’t know how to get the best out of strikers and is missing out on “guaranteed” goals from Javier Hernandez, according to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.

Manchester United’s current strikers Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have scored just six between them in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Javier Hernandez, who was allowed to leave in the summer to join German side Bayer Leverkusen, has managed to bag 19 goals in 22 games.

Former England defender Rio Ferdinand, who is a big fan of the Mexican, has stated that he feels the Dutchman didn’t know how to work with the prolific goalscorer.

Ferdinand said: “Van Gaal seems to struggle to get the best out of forwards with his strict and rigid tactics. Van Persie suffered under him at United, as did Di Maria, Januzaj and Javier Hernandez. I loved Chicharito when I played with him. He guaranteed you goals, even when he was rotated between being a starter and a substitute.
“But Van Gaal didn’t seem to know how to get the best out of him or wasn’t prepared to adapt to the little man’s way of playing. Yet see what happens when Chicharito is free to do it his way — he is now banging goals in for fun at Bayer Leverkusen.”
