Chelsea Confirm Arrival Of Former AC Milan Striker Pato

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian Striker Alexandre Pato on loan for the rest of the season.

Chelsea have an option of making his transfer permanent for £7million in the summer, but for now, Chelsea will only have to cover Pato’s £30,000 a week wages.

Pato arrived in London on Wednesday, before putting the finishing touches on his ‘dream’ switch and completing a medical.

Sky Sports managed to conduct his interview at London airport.

He said: “I’m so happy. I stay here for my dream. Chelsea is my new home. Thanks to Chelsea for support. Thanks to my fans for support on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. I need to play. I don’t know what to say because I’m so happy. I’m very anxious [to play] and I want to know my new friends and players in the team. I really want to play in Chelsea.”

Chelsea’s Guus Hiddink will seek evidence of whether Alexandre Pato still retains the desire to fulfill his potential and earn a permanent move to Chelsea.

“I’m curious to see him on the pitch in the coming days,” said Hiddink, who also revealed he will be starting Eden Hazard against MK Dons on Sunday.

“We’ve been short of available strikers, not having [Radamel] Falcao and, regularly, Loïc Rémy through injury. So I said: ‘Let’s go for it.’ The green light was mine to sign him, and a loan is less of a risk for the club.”
