Ander Herrera Talks About Guardiola, Mourinho’s Style And Reveals Two Clubs He Wants To Sign For
Manchester United fan favorite Ander Herrera has warned incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola that he will be under huge pressure to deliver at the Etihad.
It was confirmed earlier this week that Pep Guardiola would replace Manuel Pellegrini as Manchester City manager at the end of the season.
Manchester United, who trail their neighbours by seven points, were also linked with a move for the Bayern Munich coach.
When asked about his fellow Spaniard taking over at the Etihad, Herrera told Marca:
“They’re going to make us do better ourselves. Historically, City have always been below United, and this gives them a psychological advantage, because they are coming from behind.
“With Pep, with the multi-million pound outlay they’ve made and will spend with him, I expect the pressure to be higher for them. The fans are going to expect a lot: that they win the Premier League with a 10-point gap, that they reach the Champions League final.
“Pep seems a phenomenon to me. His teams always entertain me a lot, but at City the expectations will be very big.”
Ander Herrera has claimed Jose Mourinho’s attractive style could work at Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho confirmed his desire to stay in England after he was sacked by Chelsea in December and he has subsequently been linked with the job at Manchester United to replace the under-pressure Dutchman.
When asked if Mourinho’s style would suit Manchester United, he said:
“It’s funny that. You see, Mou played for Chelsea with Cesc, Willian, Oscar, Hazard and Costa. Only Matic as defensive midfielder.
“Is that not attractive? Or his Madrid scoring record? His Chelsea, with how hard it is, won the Premier well in advance… Yes I have seen Chelsea play well.”
Herrera has also claimed that English football clubs are more patient than others in Europe, and believes this mentality could save Van Gaal from the sack.
“There’s more patience in England but not only with Van Gaal. Mourinho was three points from the drop and they didn’t get rid of him. Wenger has gone nine years without the title and he’s still there. City go three weeks without a win and there are no doubts about Pellegrini. I think it would be unfair to sack Van Gaal. We still have the chance to win three titles: the FA Cup, the Europa League and the Premier League, even though we’re 10 points behind Leicester City.”
Ander Herrera eyes move to Argentina and Spain when he leaves Manchester United.
Ander Herrera has revealed that he would like a move back to his childhood club, Real Zaragoza and would also love to play for Boca Juniors when he leaves Manchester United .
Speaking to Marca, Herrera said: “Yes, I love Boca. Since childhood, when my father brought players from there.”
Herrera’s father, Pedro Maria, in his role at Zaragoza recruited players from Boca, instigating Herrera’s interest in the Argentinian side.
“If one day I get the chance to play in South America, I’d love to go to Boca, the biggest. But it is an idea, eh?
“I’m focused on my team. Ah, and with Marcos Rojo I have sometimes seen Estudiantes, which is his club.”
On Zaragoza, he said: “I see myself playing there again, but not when physically worn. I will return to contribute, not drag back.”
