Inter Milan’s Yuto Nagatomo Rejected Manchester United Move
Inter Milan full-back Yuto Nagatomo has claimed that he rejected the chance to join Manchester United in the January transfer window to stay in Italy.
Manchester United have struggled for defensive injuries this season, with several youth team players given game time.
A private jet from Milan arrived at the Manchester Airport on deadline day, fuelling speculation of a possible United signing. However, Inter Milan’s full-back Yuto Nagatomo had no intention of leaving the Serie A outfit and now his agent has reiterated the defender’s commitment to Inter.
“We haven’t set any meetings up yet and at the moment there are no major developments,” he told website FCInter1908.it .
“We have offers from English clubs, but Nagatomo wants to stay in Italy and specifically with Inter.”
Earlier this month, Nagatomo talked with Inter’s TV channel, saying: “I like everything about Inter, I want to stay here and renew my contract.
“I turned down an offer from Manchester United, as my desire is to stay here. I have an excellent rapport with Roberto Mancini.”
However, the 29-year-old admitted he is not having as much fun now as when he first joined the club.
“I’m having a great time, though I had the most fun with Wesley Sneijder, Marco Materazzi, Javier Zanetti and Antonio Cassano,” he said.
“Marco taught me Italian, including a few swearwords! Now I do some yoga exercises with Samir Handanovic before a game.
“It was very difficult when I first arrived at Cesena, because I didn’t understand any Italian at all. I didn’t have an interpreter either. Then I went to Italian school and everything got better.”
