Trio Of Chinese Sides Make Bid for Manchester United Playmaker
According to reports, Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is reportedly wanted by at least three teams from the Chinese Super League.
According to the Sunday People [as per the Mirror], a number of sides have been in contact about a big-money deal on signing the Spanish playmaker, who has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford.
The Spaniard is now rumoured to be high on the wish-list of several clubs, who are willing to offer the 27-year-old a rise on his rumoured £170,000 a-week wages.
The 27-year-old, who moved to United from Chelsea in a £37.1 million deal back in January 2014, was understood to be lining up a move back to Spain with Atletico Madrid this summer.
Diego Simeone’s side were interested in the midfielder, but were reluctant to meet a £30m asking price.
But now, the Sunday People understands that at least three clubs from the Chinese Super League have been in contact over a potential deal for the 27-year-old.
A source from the Sunday People Sport said: “Juan was happy to return to Spain but now the Chinese have shown their hands, and the money is very difficult to turn down.”
Mata scored six goals and provided four assists in 15 showings under Moyes and then Ryan Giggs, before scoring nine and contributing with four assists in 33 outings last term.
And so far this season, Mata has scored four goals and bagged three assists in 26 appearances, and also featured for 90 minutes in United’s disappointing 2-1 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday.
A number of high-profile players from Europe have already made a move to China in the January transfer window.
