OFFICIAL: After almost four months in-charge of Valencia, Gary Neville has been sacked.
Gary Neville was given his first managerial job by Valencia CF in December 2015, and it was something of a shock as the England coach had no previous experience of managing a top level club.
The 41-year old manager endured a torrid spell as manager of the La Liga side that won only 10 games under Neville, drawing 7 and losing the other 11.
“Valencia Football Club have today parted company with Gary Neville as Head Coach,” the club said in a statement.
“After careful consideration, the Club have decided to make a change with the best interests of the Valencia CF moving forward this season. We thank Gary for his work at Valencia and wish him the best in the future. The Club have, today, appointed Pako Ayestaran as Head Coach until the end of the season.”
Valencia currently sits 14th in La Liga, with assistant coach Pako Ayestaran taking over the squad as interim coach until the end of the season.
Pako Ayestaran had been with Valencia as an assistant from 2001-04, when the club won two Spanish league titles and a UEFA Cup trophy.
