Liverpool Rejected Signing Sadio Mane Because Of A Computer Game
Sadio Mane has been one of Southampton’s best players this season, scoring five goals and bagging six assists in 30 Premier League appearances.
However, it has come to light that Mane may very well have been a Liverpool player, had the Reds not rejected signing the 23-year-old due to a ridiculous reason.
According to German journalist Raphael Honigstein, Liverpool rejected the chance to sign Mane from Red Bull Salzburg back in 2014 because he failed to meet their ‘statistical criteria’ in a computer analysis data based on a computer game.
The Senegalese instead joined Southampton for a reported £15million, and has been impressive ever since.
In fact, Mane was the primary catalyst in Southampton’s victory over Liverpool in the previous Premier League game-week, when he scored two goals as the Saints came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
