Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho Fails Drug Test [Twitter Reactions]
The France international is being investigated by UEFA over a possible anti-doping rule violation.
Liverpool have released the following statement on their official website:
‘Yesterday, Friday 22nd April 2016, a formal communication was received from UEFA stating that they are investigating a possible anti-doping rule violation by Mamadou Sakho.
‘The player will respond to UEFA on the matter.
‘The player is currently not subject to any playing suspension. However, the club, in consultation with the player, has decided that while this process is followed the player will not be available for selection for matches.
‘There will be no further comment at this time.’
The 26-year-old is likely to request that his B sample be tested, with the deadline for that request set for Tuesday.
Check out how Twitter users responded to the news.
Sakho has NOT been suspended by UEFA or #LFC. He's available but club have taken decision not to select him while process continues.

A lot of talk of Sakho allegedly using Ephedrine. When Paddy Kenny took it in 2009, he was banned by the FA for 9 months.

I can understand why Sakho took them fat burning pills. If I had all those strikers in my pocket I'd probably think I was fat too

Just seems like blow after blow at the moment. Beat Dortmund, then lose Can, Origi and Sakho for the rest of the season.

Shocked by that Sakho news. Just at the wrong time too. He was in great form and a real fan favourite. Hope it doesn't ruin his career.

Why would Sakho need Fat burning pills? He must've weighted himself and forgot he still had a 221 lbs Lukaku in his pocket?

Given Liverpool paid £32 million for Benteke & £36 million for Andy Carroll, I highly doubt Sakho is the only one on drugs at that club.

Sakho was still eligible to play today but decision not to play was made by owners/Ian Ayre, Jurgen Klopp and player himself
