Jamie Carragher Heavily Criticizes Manchester City’s Performance Against Real Madrid

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has heavily criticized Manchester City for their poor performance in the Champions League semi-final’s second leg, in which they lost 1-0 to Real Madrid.

The Citizens went to the Santiago Bernabeu following a goalless draw at the Etihad in the first leg, and needed a win, or even a scored draw to go through to their first ever Champions League final.

However, Manchester City’s performance was somewhat ‘toothless,’ and it eventually got them knocked out by Zinedine Zidane’s men. Apart from conceding a deflected goal by Welsh star Gareth Bale, City played majority of the game within themselves without putting any pressure on Real Madrid whatsoever when out of possession, and failing to manage more than one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes.

Former Liverpool man and current Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher was highly critical of Manuel Pellegrini’s men, and expressed these thoughts on his official twitter account.

Albeit City’s poor performance, they were still the only English club to reach this far in the Champions League this season, and with Pep Guardiola taking over the helm at the Etihad next season, the Citizens could soon become a genuine force to be reckoned with in European football.
