Torres Matches A Milestone He Last Achieved At Liverpool

Fernando Torres was a gem of a striker back when he played for Liverpool, and scored 65 goals in 102 appearances for the Reds. But, even since his £50 million move to Chelsea in January 2011, the Spaniard hasn’t been quite the same.

However, Torres seems to have gotten resurrected under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, and is in dazzling form at the moment – a form he hasn’t been in since his old Liverpool days.

In Atletico Madrid’s La Liga clash against Levante on Sunday, it was none other than El Nino who scored the opener of the game, and this goal took his La Liga goals tally up to 10 goals for the season – a great achievement indeed, considering Fernando Torres had not scored 10 goals in a league season since his Liverpool days.

The forward opened the scoring in the 1st minute thanks to a sublime through ball by Koke, when Torres confidently chipped over the Levante goalkeeper.

Torres has now bagged 6 goals in his last 10 games across all competitions, and is one of the most in-form Spanish players at the moment, and it won’t be the surprise to see the 32-year-old included in Vicente Del Bosque’s side in the European Championship.
