Jamie Carragher Blasts Alberto Moreno On Twitter
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher absolutely blasted Reds’ left-back Alberto Moreno on twitter due to the Spaniard’s performance in the Europa League final, which Liverpool ended up losing to Sevilla by 3-1.
Moreno was mainly at fault when Liverpool conceded their first goal of the night. Sevilla right-back Mariano Ferreira Filho managed to nutmeg Liverpool’s Spanish left-back and provided a perfect cross, which French striker Kevin Gameiro tapped into goal, thereby equalizing for the La Liga club.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described this moment as the turning point of the match, as he said: “Obviously the first goal had a big influence on our game. At this moment we lost faith in our style of play, we changed from passing quick and simple to complicated and lost our formation. It was not compact any more.”
However, it was Reds’ legend Jamie Carragher who singled out Moreno for his fault in conceding the equalizer. The former center-back took to his official twitter account to vent his frustration, using some very strong language to urge manager Jurgen Klopp as well as the Liverpool transfer committee to sign a new left-back as a replacement to the 23-year-old full-back. The Englishman soon came back to his normal senses, however, and ended up deleting the tweet.

Sevilla coach Unai Emery had only positive things to say about the former Sevilla man, and refused to blame the youngster alone for conceding the equalizer. Emery said: “Alberto Moreno is playing a great season for Liverpool and, from what I have seen, he is playing at a level that he can go back to the Spanish national team.”
Moreno himself congratulated his former club in return, and expressed his thoughts on why his team ended up losing their second final of the season.
“Congratulations to Sevilla,” Moreno said. “We played a good Europa League. We’ve had a good season, but have not been able to lift a trophy.
“We were better in the first half, and had more chances. It’s true that they rolled over us in the second half. They came out flying, and scored three times in 20 minutes. They were the better team. They deserved to win the trophy. We must just lift our heads and think of next season.”
