Manchester United are showing genuine interest in signing Leicester City’s star midfielder N’Golo Kante, as per the Mirror.
The report suggests that Manchester United’s new boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring the French international to the Theatre of Dreams, and is willing to make a £22 million offer for the midfielder so as to activate the release clause in his contract.
N’Golo Kante had a solid season under the management of Claudio Ranieri, and the midfield enforcer was the dominant force for the Foxes, winning 125 successful tackles, providing 4 assists, and maintaining an average passing accuracy of 82% in 37 Premier League appearances.
The 25-year-old played a major part in helping the Foxes win the 2015-16 Barclays Premier League title, with his top drawer performances attracting the interest of the Special One in the process.
Kante’s top displays have not only attracted the interest of other top clubs, but have also earned him an international call-up, and now the Leicester star is set to command the French midfield in the Euro 2016 tournament.
Kante featured in France’s opening game of the tournament against Romania, where he created one chance and provided one assist, whilst also completing 78 passes with a passing accuracy of 92%.
Manchester United are not the only ones interested in signing Kante, however, as they face competition from other European giants like Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain. But with the absence of Champions League football at Old Trafford next season, the Red Devils are set for an uphill battle in securing Kante’s services.
