Henrikh Mkhitaryan Ponders “Dream Move”
Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan has spent nearly four years in Dortmund, helping the German club challenge for the Bundesliga title. However, it looks like the attacking midfielder would like a change in scenery.
The 27-year old has scored over 40 goals for his current club in over 130 appearances. Dortmund have hence, offered the Armenian a contract extension, which Henrikh has rejected.
Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Raiola, has claimed that Manchester United are his “dream club,” and he is very keen on moving to the Barclays Premier League.
In an interviewed with Bild, Raiola said: “We have both taken very different views and fight for them like lions. Watzke (CEO of Borussia Dortmund) walks 180 degrees into one direction and I 180 degrees into the other. But even though it does not look like it right now, I still hope for a sensible solution.
“Such an offer to join Manchester United might only come once in a lifetime for a player and nobody can guarantee us that the door will still be open for Micki next season. Manchester are Micki’s dream club; he wants to join them by any means.”
His agent’s statement has fuelled rumors of all sorts, chiefly that a move to Manchester United is imminent. It is believed that Manchester United have approached Mkhitaryan, and have tabled a bid of $27 million.
His agent continued talking about United’s bid, as he was asked whether the bid placed was higher that $25 million. He replied: “That’s not my task. My task is to represent my player’s interests. It’s known what Micki wants. He wants to go to Manchester United, and we are still trying to resolve the situation,” he recently told The Times.
United’s new boss, Jose Mourinho, will be looking to revamp his squad – following a less than impressive 5th place league finish under Louis Van Gaal last season.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a sublime midfielder and would be a fantastic addiction to the United squad. And since Jose Mourinho has mentioned that he is willing to give all of his current players a fair chance – even the Spanish midfielder Juan Mata – Mkhitaryan will have to prove his worth to Mourinho should he choose to move to England.
