Paul Pogba has been heavily linked with Manchester United over the recent weeks, for a world-record transfer fee. So we decided to take a look at what the Frenchman can bring to Manchester United to make them better.

Chance Creator

Paul Pogba made more Key Passes than Toni Kroos, N’Golo Kante, or Andres Iniesta per game in the 2015/16 season. In a Manchester United team that looked void of creativity last term, this could be a massive upgrade from the dull sideways passing.

Attacking Prowess

Paul Pogba destroys his fellow midfielders when it comes to attacking. The France international scored twice as many points as Luka Modric, and three times as many points than Toni Kroos did. He flourishes when he has space in front of him. This suits Jose Mourinho’s approach of playing transition football.

Athleticism

Pogba wins more aerial duels on average (65%) than Marouane Fellaini does (52%). A key component of a Jose Mourinho team is having an athletic midfielder who can win his aerial duels. Mourinho also favoured players such as Matic at Chelsea, and Khedira at Real Madrid, for their ability to win balls in the air.

Knack for the Spectacular

Paul Pogba can give Manchester United a certain excitement and aura from the centre of the park last seen during Paul Scholes’ prime days. There is no denying Pogba has that certain flair and unpredictability about him – skills that Scholes used to possess.

Statement of Intent

The signing of Paul Pogba would surely stun the football world, and it would come to show how Manchester United (who will be missing out on Champions League Football this season) can still attract the best players in Europe regardless. The signing of Pogba will also signal the start of a new era at United, with Jose Mourinho likely assembling a team that can once again challenge for league titles.

Is Gary Lineker Right?

Gary Lineker claims Paul Pogba is over-rated. We dug deeper into this claim to see whether Lineker had a point, and he doesn’t. At the age of 23, Paul Pogba makes more key passes than Andres Iniesta. Pogba has also scored 8 goals, more than Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, N’Golo Kante and Iniesta Combined.

This for a player who has not even reached the peak of his footballing powers yet, is one of the many reasons Manchester United fans should be very very excited.

Indeed we need that kind of gravitas in midfield to revitalise the Man United brand. I was initially of the view thats a hell of alot of money thrown way. But if we really have to challenge for silverware amongst the likes of Guardiola and contes of the footballing world, we just have no choice but to bring date, adventure, creativity thats worldclass, even if we have to break the bank doing so. So Pogba is a welcome addition to Ibrahimovic and mkhiyatan. Kudos Mourinho
