Dortmund Identify Barcelona Midfielder As Mkhitaryan Replacement

Borussia Dortmund have suffered yet another major loss, after their star midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan decided to leave the club and join English giants Manchester United.

Mkhitaryan became the third star player to leave Dortmund in this transfer window, following the footsteps of Mats Hummels, who joined Bayern Munich, and Ilkay Gundogan, who moved to the Blue part of Manchester.

The Armenian midfielder scored 41 goals in the 140 appearances he made for the German giants since joining them in 2013. However, last season was clearly his best, as he netted 23 times and bagged 32 assists across all competitions for BVB.

The 27-year-old play-maker was also voted as Bundesliga’s Player of the Season for 2015-16, and was one of the first and most obvious inclusions in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.

He will clearly be a massive loss for Dortmund, who are now looking for replacements that will help them rebuild their squad and help them compete with the mighty Bayern Munich.

And according to reports in Turkey, Dortmund have already identified Micky’s replacement, and it’s none other than FC Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan.

Turan has failed to establish himself in Barcelona’s midfield ever since he joined the Catalan club from Atletico Madrid. Moreover, a poor campaign in the Euro 2016 with his national side has done no favours to the Turkish international’s confidence.

Thomas Tuchel is therefore looking to lure Turan to the Westfalenstadion club, and give him a chance to revive his career and get back to his best.

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu, however, has claimed that he is perfectly happy with the way the 29-year-old has been performing since joining the Spanish Champions.

Bartomeu was previously quoted as saying: “The coaching staff count on Arda Turan and we thank both him and Aleix [Vidal] for the patience they showed to go six months without being able to play. As for the sporting section, I’d give them a nine out of 10 because four trophies in one season isn’t bad at all.”

But despite these comments, it is being reported that Barcelona will be happy to part ways with Turan if they receive an appropriate offer.
