Joe Riley Frustrated At Being Excluded From Mourinho’s Pre-season Squad
Manchester United’s 19-year-old midfielder, Joe Riley, took to twitter to voice his frustration at being omitted from Jose Mourinho’s pre-season tour squad.
Joe Riley posted an update on twitter, reading: “Shambles.”
Jose may have left out the 19-year-old as he doesn’t have plans for the youngster, and maybe feels that he should spend more time developing his skills.
After posting the update, Joe quickly deleted the tweet, but it had already been shared amongst United fans across the globe.
Former Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal, handed Joe his senior debut – sending the youngster on in a 3-0 FA Cup win against Shrewsbury Town. Joe also started in Manchester United’s 5-1 triumph over FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League.
But, the youngster hasn’t yet made an appearance for Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League.
Riley was initially a midfielder, although ex-United manager, Louis Van Gaal, played the teenager as a left-back – a role which Riley played very well, linking up brilliantly with Memphis Depay during United’s 5-1 win in the Europa League last 16.
For Jose Mourinho not to include Riley in his pre-season squad, it could mean that the youngster is on his way out. But, the 19-year-old could fit well in Mourinho’s plans.
Joe is a versatile and hard-working player, and could fill in for Luke Shaw during the low-profile matches. Riley could also play in midfield, possibly alongside Michael Carrick or Bastian Schweinsteiger.
