Ronaldo Talks Injury, Contracts, And Ballon D’Or

Football’s biggest star, Cristiano Ronaldo, has stated that he would like to prolong his stay in the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo is currently out injured with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that he sustained during the final of the Euro 2016. The Portuguese star led his nation to the final, but was unfortunately stretchered off in the 24th minute, after a hard tackle from Dimitri Payet.

However, Cristiano came back during the latter stages of the match, and cheered his nation on to victory. The Real Madrid winger also gave the crowd a quick glimpse of his managerial skills.

Shortly after his Euro 2016 triumph, Ronaldo jetted off to the Mediterranean for his summer holiday. It is believed the 31-year-old winger will be out for most of the beginning of this season, as he nurses his knee back to full fitness.

Spanish outlet AS asked Ronaldo about his current injury, to which the Portuguese man responded:

“I’m completely ruled out of the Super Cup on the 9th because I return to work [with Real] on the 10th.”

The news outlet also reported the statement Ronaldo made when he was questioned by the press on his current contract situation.

“I spoke to the president [Florentino Perez] on the phone and when I get back to Madrid, we’ll talk. Obviously, it’s something I want,” the Real Madrid man stated.

It is no doubt that Ronaldo is looking for a contract extension with his current club. He joined the Galacticos back in 2009, for a then record breaking transfer fee of £80 million.

Ronaldo was also questioned about his chances of winning this year’s FIFA Ballon d’Or award.

“It’s out of my hands,” Ronaldo explained. “But I’ll admit that I’m in a good position given that I won the Champions League and the European Championships.”
