Wenger Looking To Lure Blaise Matuidi
Arsenal are believed to be looking at securing Blaise Matuidi’s signature before Manchester United seal the deal with him.
Jose Mourinho has had Blaise Matuidi in his mind for the past few weeks, but he has only been a backup to Jose’s primary target – Paul Pogba.
The Portuguese manager and his team have been looking for Pogba’s signature since the opening of the transfer window, but negotiations have been very slow, and it doesn’t seem like there will be a breakthrough anytime soon.
Mourinho was looking to secure the £112 million signing of Pogba before his first competitive match as a manager – the FA Community Shield. But, Juventus stand firm and seem unwilling to co-operate.
Should the Paul Pogba deal fail, Mourinho will look towards bringing Matuidi to join him in Manchester. But since the Pogba deal is still on the table, United have not made a move for Blaise – allowing Arsenal to swoop in and intervene.

Paris Saint-Germain manager, Unai Emery, hasn’t yet given Matuidi a clear signal that he sees him in the club’s future. Matuidi is also worried, after hearing reports that Moussa Sissoko may be joining the French Champions this summer.
So if Blaise Matuidi is to switch clubs anytime soon, then he may opt for Arsenal, as Manchester United are still holding hopes on Paul Pogba. But should Pogba decide to stay in Turin, then Matuidi could well be headed to Manchester this summer.
The France international impressed many managers and pundits last month, when he played in the European Championships. He and Pogba led France to the final of the competition, but could not overcome a Ronaldo-less Portugal.
Matuidi isn’t Jose’s only backup to the Pogba deal, as Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic is also poised for a potential switch to Manchester United should they fail in their Pogba pursuit.
