Zinedine Zidane initially tried to sign Paul Pogba, but lost out to Manchester United – who will pay a world-record £112 million for the 23-year-old,

Paul Pogba is believed to have already completed his medical with the Red Devils, and the deal is set to be officially announced tomorrow.

The French powerhouse was in Zidane’s sight for most of this summer transfer window, but Real could not compete on the same financial level that Manchester United were on, and are now faced with the reality that they will not sign the Frenchman.

Zidane recently spoke about the whole Pogba saga, wishing him well at his new club, and refusing to dish out information about potential signings.

“I don’t think anything about Pogba, he’s a Manchester United player and that’s it,” he is quoted as saying by Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

“It’s what transfer matters are all about, they paid it and that’s it.

“We have many players in midfield. I won’t say I’m going to ask for another midfielder because I don’t know how we’re going to do for all those who are here to play.

“It’s the manager’s problem. All the players who are staying will be important because the group is more important than one player. Until the 31st, everything may happen.”

Paul Pogba is expected to cost Manchester United a total of £112 million. But the Red Devils will only pay £92 million to Juventus, and the rest will go toward Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola.

The French international has already been pictured in Manchester, in his convoy from the airport, which included his mum. He was also photographed with the Manchester United laundry workers while he himself was wearing a United training jersey.
