Pereira’s United Future To Be Decided Soon

Andreas Pereira’s future at Manchester United hangs in the balance, as newly appointed manager José Mourinho doesn’t fancy having him in his 23 man squad this season. However, Manchester United do not want to lose the Brazilian starlet permanently either.

The 20-year-old scored a goal in Manchester United’s first pre-season friendly against Wigan Athletic, but did not play the other three despite being present in the squad.

Belgium-born Pereira joined Manchester United from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in November 2011. The youngster has represented Belgium on the U15, U16 and U17 levels, but chose to switch his allegiance to Brazil, which is his country of origin.

Periera made his first team debut for the English giants after coming on as a half-time substitute for Saidy Janko in a 4–0 away defeat to MK Dons in the second round of the English League Cup.

On 15th March, 2015, Pereira made his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur, after coming on as a 77th-minute substitute for the Spaniard Juan Mata in a 3–0 win for United.

Pereira barely featured for Manchester United in the 2015-2016 campaign, and took part in only 11 games all season, many of which were substitute appearances. He scored 1 goal in these 11 appearances.

According to English news outlet Manchester Evening News (MEN), both Januzaj and Periera were informed that they are not a part of José’s plans for the upcoming season.

United don’t want to permanently lose two of their most talented youngsters, and want them to go out on loan instead. Januzaj agreed to be reunited with former boss David Moyes at Sunderland, and United hope Periera agrees to get loaned out as well.

Pereira has not taken his demotion from the first team kindly, and according to MEN, his representatives are plotting a permanent move away from the Red Devils.

Newly promoted side Middlesborough are interested in taking the Brazilian on a season long loan.

This could be an ideal deal for the youngster, as it guarantees him Premier League experience. Also, the fact that Middlesborough manager Aitor Karanka has worked with Manchester United manager José Mourinho at Real Madrid as his assistant only works in favour of the young Brazilian.
