Manchester United Still In For Brazilian Duo

Jose Mourinho’s side have already made four big name signings this season, but reports claim that United are still going to add at least two more players before the window closes.

United’s new boss, Jose Mourinho, has already spent close to £150 million this summer. He brought in a total of four players, including Paul Pogba, who broke the world transfer record.

Fresh reports from the Spanish media suggest that Manchester United are going to dip their fingers into the transfer market once again, in order to sign AS Monaco full-back Fabinho, as well as Gabriel Barbosa from Santos.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be looking for an older and more experienced defender, and initial reports suggested that he was looking for a centre-back.

Fabinho, 22, doesn’t seem to fit Mourinho’s description, but he could be a better alternative to Manchester United’s first choice right-back, Matteo Darmian.

Darmian was Louis Van Gaal’s first choice right-back for most of the 2015-16 season, but the Italian’s form worsened due to injuries.

Mourinho has therefore, begun his 2016 campaign with Antonio Valencia in the right-back position – a role in which the Ecuadorian has flourished.

Valencia, originally a winger, seems to have successfully converted into a full-back. His physical strength and excellent pace allow him to dominate the right-hand side of the pitch. If he can continue his form, Mourinho would see no reason in signing Fabinho (although he would consider him as a backup).

Gabriel Barbosa, nicknamed Gabigol, is also believed to be on Manchester United’s radar. The teenager was dubbed “The Next Neymar” after his excellent performances for club and country.

Gabigol has attracted interest from a number of high-profile clubs, including Inter Milan, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.

Talks over the youngster’s future have been moving slow, as he is currently representing his national team in the Rio 2016 Olympics, where he has already helped his nation reach the Final of the competition.
