Man City And Man Utd Chasing French Midfielder

Reports from the Il Messaggero suggest that Manchester United and Manchester City are both in pursuit of 18-year-old French midfielder, Jean-Victor Makengo.

Jean-Victor Makengo currently plays for SM Caen, and has been subject to interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Italian media have reported that the teenager could be on his way to the Premier League this summer, but the two Manchester sides will have to battle it out for his signature.

Makengo, who still has a contract until 2018, has also caught interest from AS Roma and Juventus. Reports go as far as to state that these clubs have sent scouts to watch Makengo.

The French teenager has been described as an all-round midfielder, but he tends to dive into a more attacking role.

Jean-Victor made his French Ligue 1 debut last year in November, and has been catching the eyes of many supporters ever since. He has made a total of 5 appearances for SM Caen, but one area he needs to work on is his stamina.

Manchester United, who already signed their own French midfielder this summer, will be hoping to sign Makengo for their Youth squad, as he looks to have a bright future ahead.

However, Makengo still has a wide list of options if he does wish to leave SM Caen. But, his best bet could be to stay in France and wait another year of two until he can enter into the first-team squad of a high profile club.

Paul Pogba, who left Manchester United in 2012, went from the Manchester United youth squad to the Juventus first team squad. He has now returned to Manchester United four years later, breaking the World transfer record in the process.

Makengo will be hoping to emulate the same sort of fame that Pogba is experiencing at the moment, but he will have to pick his options wisely.
