Premier League Giants Keeping Tabs On Benfica Youngster

Manchester United are keeping a watch on Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.

The 22-year-old was watched by United’s scouts during his club’s 1-1 draw with Vitoria Setubal on Sunday, according to ClubCall.

Lindelof has been linked with United in the past, but no serious contact has been made between the club and the player just yet.

The youngster has been in fine form for Benfica, and had his best season at the club last season, appearing 25 times, and even managing to nick a goal to his name.

He was called up to Sweden’s National team for Euro 2016 in France, where he started all their group games. That was as far as it got for Lindelof and the Swedes in the tournament, however, as they failed to qualify for the knockout stages.

The defender, who shares the same agent as United manager Jose Mourinho in Jorge Mendes, has also been tracked by Chelsea and Inter Milan. However, neither of those clubs had respresentatives at the Estádio da Luz for the game against Vitoria Setubal. However, there were scouts from other big clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.

The highly rated youngster is currently under a contract with Benfica that will run up to 2020, and will cost an interested club a fee in the region of £12-15 million.
