Varane Rejected A Massive Offer From England To Stay With Real
Raphael Varane rejected a very lucrative offer from English giants Manchester United to stay with Real Madrid, latest reports have revealed.
Varane was signed for Real Madrid back in 2011 by none other than Jose Mourinho, who is believed to be a big fan of the young center back. The Frenchman thrived and developed rapidly under the Portuguese tactician whilst he was still in-charge of the Spanish giants, and became one of the best young talents in world football.
However, after a series of managerial changes, the 23-year-old saw himself drop down the pecking order. He spent majority of last season on the Real Madrid bench, and was repeatedly left out of crucial games, after having fallen out of current manager Zinedine Zidane’s favour, and due to the fact that Zidane preferred the center-back pairing of Pepe and Sergio Ramos instead.
The young center-back looked set to leave the La Liga outfit, but ended up taking a dramatic u-turn, and decided to remain with the reigning European Champions.

And now, new reports have come to light, suggesting that Varane went to the extent of rejected a massive offer from Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United to stay with the Los Blancos.
As per the Spanish radio station COPE, Jose Mourinho had personally made a phone call to Varane, so as to convince him to make a switch to the Theatre of Dreams. Moreover, the Special One was not only willing to offer the France international a guaranteed first team spot, but also increase his wages up to £165,000-a-week – almost twice the amount Varane is currently earning at Real.
However, Raphael still rejected the mega offer, and opted to stay in Madrid, thanks to the assurances given to him by his manager and fellow countryman, Zinedine Zidane.
Meanwhile, Mourinho is still believed to be on the lookout for one more defender, with Southampton’s Jose Fonte his reported target.
