Hull City vs Manchester United: Mourinho’s Potential XI
Manchester United take on Hull City this afternoon at the KC Stadium, with both teams having won their first two matches of the Premier League season.
Jose Mourinho will take charge of his third match as Manchester United boss, as the Red Devils travel away to face Hull City.
The Special One has already won his first two Premier League matches of the season, and will be hoping to claim all three points this afternoon.
Manchester United seem to have completed all their transfer dealings this summer, with Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Zlatan Ibrahimović all joining the Red Devils.
All of Mourinho’s new signings have managed to make at last one appearance in the Premier League, with superstar Zlatan Ibrahimović already scoring three goals in two games.
Hull City, meanwhile, have also had a great start to the Premier League season, kicking off with a win against last season’s Champions – Leicester City.
Check out how Jose Mourinho’s men could line up against the Tigers today:
- Goalkeeper: David De Gea
Of course, we have the Spanish shot-stopper in goal. De Gea has always been crucial to Manchester United and we see no reason for the Spaniard not to start.
- Defenders: Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw
We may see Smalling start ahead of Daley Blind today, as he was rested during the previous match against Southampton. Bailly would most likely partner Smalling. The Ivorian has put in impressive performances ever since his arrival and Mourinho will be happy to start him.
Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw will most probably start as full-backs. Valencia has been in great form for the Red Devils and there seems no reason for Mourinho to start anyone else, apart from experimenting with youth players.
- Midfielders: Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata
Pogba made his debut last time out against Southampton and did a pretty good job in the midfield. His strength and pace will help bring more depth to the squad. Fellaini has been a surprise performer for the club and looks set to start.
Mourinho mentioned that he would like to take the time to phase Mkhitaryan into the team, so he would most probably start Mata in his place. Wayne Rooney will start behind the lone striker, with Martial taking the left attacking midfield role.
- Striker: Zlatan Ibrahimović
He needs no introduction. Zlatan has already scored three goals in two games for Manchester United. His sublime form will most probably earn him a starting spot this afternoon.
