Pulisic Squashes Liverpool Hopes As He Claims To Be A Fan Of Their Bitter Rivals

Borussia Dortmund’s teenage star Christian Pulisic has been a target of Liverpool’s interest. However, the US international has crushed their hopes by revealing that he is a boyhood Manchester United fan.

Pulisic is the youngest goal scorer in the Bundesliga, and is also the youngest player ever to represent a national team in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Pulisic scored two goals and assisted one for his national team USA in their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as USA had a comfortable 6-0 victory.

In an interview with ESPN, Pulisic said that he was a boyhood United fan, and also said that he admires Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney.

He stated: “I was a big Manchester United fan when I was younger so I loved to watch Wayne Rooney.

“I wouldn’t say I’m a similar player, though. I think his passion for the game is something you don’t see much in players. That’s what I loved about him.”

Pulisic was then quizzed about his links with Liverpool, to which he admitted to knowing them, but said that as of now, he’s fully focussed on his Borussia Dortmund career.

He said: “I hear about it. I have social media. Obviously I’m not completely closed to the world. But I don’t let it affect me or how I’m playing at the time. The whole time throughout, I was just focused on training every day.

“I don’t have as much experience as a lot of players on the (Dortmund) team. But just getting my minutes and working hard every day in training and becoming a normal member of the team is the goal.”
