French news outlet L’Equipe report Manchester United and Barcelona are interested in signing Marquinhos.

Manchester United and Barcelona are supposedly going to battle it out for the Paris Saint-Germain centre-back. The 22-year-old has been in the French Capital for the past three years, with his current contract set to expire in 2018.

However, with clubs like Barcelona and Manchester United looking for his signature, Marquinhos’ departure from Paris looks increasingly likely.

Jose Mourinho, who just recently lost his third consecutive match in charge of Manchester United, is said to be looking towards a defensive addition this winter.

The Portuguese manager already splurged on a defender this past summer (Eric Bailly), but it looks clear that the squad needs another option just to tighten up in the back.

Manchester United lost 3-1 away to Watford this Sunday; a match in which the Red Devils seemed to have a complete defensive meltdown.

Marquinhos has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford for the past three years. The Brazilian could be influenced by the decision of working alongside Jose Mourinho.

However, Spanish Giants Barcelona are also interested in adding the centre-back to their ranks this winter.

According to several British news outlets, Barcelona are prepared to offer a mind-blowing €60 million for the Brazil International during the January transfer window.

However, considering Paris Saint-Germain recently sold David Luiz back to Chelsea, it is unlikely that they would be willing to sell another defender so soon unless they have a replacement lined up.

Marquinhos has been an integral part of the Paris Saint-Germain squad ever since his arrival as a teenager in 2013. He has made 118 appearances for the French side, and has helped the club win three League titles.

With the departure of David Luiz last summer, Marquinhos has been ensured a constant starting spot in the PSG lineup, partnering in defense with Captain Thiago Silva.
