Jorge Mendes has alerted Manchester United to the possibility of signing Atletico Madrid’s rising star Bernard Mensah.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Portuguese Primeira club Vitoria Guimaraes.

According to GhanaSoccerNet, representatives of the Old Trafford outfit are keeping a close eye on the midfielder’s progress. Several reports also claim that the Ghanian was being watched by United’s scouts who were present at Guimaraes’ 1-1 draw with Belenenses, and were impressed by his solid display.

Mensah signed a six-year contract with Atletico Madrid in 2015, but is yet to make an appearances for the La Liga giants.

The midfielder is represented by well known influential super agent Jorge Mendes, who has a very good relationship with the Red Devils hierarchy and Ed Woodward in particular. He also represents United manager Jose Mourinho, and will try to convince his client to consider the possibility of bringing Mensah to the Theatre of Dreams.

Mensah came through the ranks at Vitoria Guimaraes, and played for their B team before being promoted to the first team, where he made 30 appearances and scored 5 goals in his debut season.

He was snapped up by Atletico in 2015, and was immediately loaned out to La Liga club Getafe. However, his stint at the club ended in disappointment as he only made 8 appearances all season. He returned to Atletico and was then sent back to Guimaraes, where he is currently attracting interest from several clubs in the Premier League.
