Paris Saint-Germain loses for second time in seven Ligue 1 games this season. PSG didn’t suffer a second loss last season until Week 31.

Paris Saint Germain’s poor start to the season continued on Friday, as the French club fell to their second defeat in seven league games – the same number of losses they suffered in the entirety of last season. Goals from Yann Bodiger and Jimmy Durmaz saw pressure grow on boss Unai Emery, who replaced Laurent Blanc as manager this summer.

Ola Toivonen was brought down in the area in the 48th minute by ex-Toulouse defender Serge Aurier, who received a second yellow card and was sent off after already being booked earlier in the game. Yann Bodiger stepped up to the plate and dispatched his penalty beyond the reach of PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to put Toulouse 1-0 up.

On the other side of the pitch, Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont, still only 17 years old, put in an inspired display between the sticks. He thwarted several attempts from PSG’s front line and kept Edinson Cavani out three times before Durmaz struck a left-footed shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 to the home side.

The defeat meant the defending Ligue 1 Champions dropped down to third in the table, while Toulouse climbed up to second, a point ahead of PSG and level on points with league leaders Nice, who face struggling side Nancy away on Sunday.
