Manchester United and England Captain Wayne Rooney has been offered the chance to feature in the Chinese Super League.

The 30-year-old striker has been out of form recently, and Jose Mourinho has already dropped him from the starting line-up.

Rooney hasn’t started in any of Manchester United’s last 3 games, although he has managed to feature in all of them after coming on from the bench. Jose Mourinho has instead opted for Juan Mata in Rooney’s No.10 role, and the Spaniard looks to be thriving in his new position.

So far, Rooney’s performances haven’t been improving, and Mourinho’s reluctance to start the England man means that he sees no future with him.

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney has featured prominently in the Manchester United squad, but this was because managers David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal were somehow reluctant to drop the skipper.

Rooney’s immunity looks to be gone since the arrival of Mourinho, and it seems as though he won’t be back in the starting eleven unless he can prove that he is still worth a lot to the team.

If Wayne Rooney does decide that his time is up at Old Trafford, the Chinese Super League would have no problem in taking up the England captain.

Li Jiuquan, a Chinese FA marketing director, spoke about the prospect of luring Rooney to China.

“Wayne Rooney is huge star in China,” Li started. “Even my young son knows all about Rooney and I have taken a picture of his shirt.

“If Rooney played in the Chinese super league it would attract huge attention, not only inside China but on television worldwide, and give the CSL huge exposure globally. Maybe only Messi and Ronaldo are more famous.”

China has already attracted a few big names in football, and are known to offer eye-watering sums of money to complete transfers.

Graziano Pelle, Ramires, Hulk, and Ezequiel Lavezzi are some well-known players already playing in the Chinese Super League, meaning the signing Rooney isn’t impossible.
