Manchester City Will Sign Michael Carrick In January, Predicts Sherwood
Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has made a bizarre prediction, by stating that Michael Carrick may be on his way to Manchester City in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Michael Carrick was all set to leave Manchester United this summer, as he no longer featured in Louis van Gaal’s plans. However, the Dutchman got prematurely sacked, and his successor, Jose Mourinho, handed Carrick a new one-year contract to prolong his stay at Old Trafford.
Despite the contract extension, the English midfielder has only made 3 appearances for the Red Devils so far this season, as he finds himself behind the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, and Marouane Fellaini in the pecking order.

But when Tim Sherwood was asked if he would pick Carrick ahead of Herrera and Fellaini, he replied positively, and further heaped a lot of praise on the 35-year-old.
The manager-turned-pundit stated: “Michael Carrick plays in every single Premier League team, every single. First name on the team sheet, in my opinion.
“Manchester City are crying out for a Michael Carrick. They play Fernando and Fernandinho in there – and they are good at what they do, but they can’t do what he (Carrick) can do. They can’t link the play like Michael Carrick. He is a number 6. When the back four give him the ball, he is comfortable on it and he passes it forward, beyond the press.”
Sherwood continued to discuss the veteran Manchester United midfielder, and even ended up making a bizarre prediction about where his future lies.
“When Pep Guardiola was at Barcelona, he had Busquets doing that,” Sherwood added. “He is not someone who runs around kicking people. Xabi Alonso at Bayern Munich. Michael Carrick is the replica of one of them two players.
“If Man United don’t want to play him, Man City will buy him in January.”
