Bale Signs Six-Year Contract Extension With Real Madrid
Real Madrid have confirmed that club record signing Gareth Bale has signed a new six-year contract extension, that will see him remain at the club till the 30th of June, 2022.
The club issued a statement on their official website confirming the deal, and putting an end to speculation regarding the Welshman’s future. Bale has been persistently linked with a switch to Manchester United for the last couple of weeks, but Real were determined to keep a hold of their star man, and have moved swiftly to secure his signature.
The club statement read: “Real Madrid C. F. and Gareth Bale have agreed an extension to the player’s contract, keeping him at the club until the 30th of June 2022. Tomorrow, Monday at 1:30pm, Gareth Bale will appear at a press conference in the media room at the Santiago Bernabéu.”
Bale signed for Los Blancos in 2013 for a then-world record fee of £85.3 million, and the Welshman has done justice to that mammoth fee with brilliant performances for them. He has scored 50 goals in 90 La Liga appearances so far, and has already notched up 7 goals this season.
The 27-year-old joins Lucas Vazquez, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric, who have all signed new deals with the club.
Bale has played an instrumental part in Real Madrid’s success since he signed for them. He has helped them on to two Champions League titles in 2014 and 2016, and has also won the Copa Del Rey, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup since his move to the Santiago Bernabeu from Tottenham Hotspur.
