AC Milan will attempt to sign Morgan Schneiderlin on a loan deal until the end of the season, according to reports in Italy.

The Manchester United midfielder has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese boss arrived at Old Trafford in the summer.

And with the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick all ahead of him in the pecking order, the France International has played just six minutes of Premier League football so far this season.

As a result of his lack of game time and his failure to convince Mourinho to start him on a regular basis, Schneiderlin could seek to leave the club he joined in 2015 from Southampton for £24 million, albeit on a temporary basis.

According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, AC Milan have been keeping a close watch on his situation at Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace have been linked with Schneiderlin a couple of times recently, but Milan could have the upper hand. It is believed that the Serie A giants – who have newfound cash thanks to their takeover by a Chinese consortium in the summer – are keen to bring the defensive midfielder in on a loan deal till the end of the season, with a possible option to buy in the summer, should he impress at the San Siro.

However, the midfielder signed a four-year contract with the Old Trafford club only last year, which would mean Milan would have to dip into their pockets if they intend to sign Schneiderlin on a permanent basis.
